Sharing is caring!

It’s that time of year again. We are all out shopping for our Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers for family and friends. But what do you buy for a natural minded person?

If your family and friends are anything like me, they would most likely appreciate natural items they can use quite often. I personally do not like receiving gifts with fragrances or little plastic pieces to it. Those are not something I would ever use.

With that in mind, if you have someone you’re shopping for that lives the more natural lifestyle, here are a few gifts, stocking stuffers and even some bonus ideas to help you shop for them this Christmas season.

Gifts

I personally always appreciate gifts for the garden and kitchen. These are the two places I spend most of my time. I’m also with the kids in these places simultaneously. A gift to these particular areas of our lives would be a multifaceted gift for the family in general.

Indoor garden

An indoor garden hydroponics growing system would be amazing for many families, especially those with kids in the city or without a garden space yet. I could not only use this for cooking but also as a homeschool science lesson for the children.

Glass jars

Glass jars in all sizes are absolutely essential for our home and others who choose the natural living lifestyle. These 2-gallon jars are very versatile in my home and kitchen. I personally use these ones for my sourdough starter. Yes, I use a ginormous jar for my sourdough starter. I always have this out on my counter ready to go for not just bread, but also pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and so much more! These can be used for herbs, dried food and even decorations.

Kitchen tools

Good kitchen tools are a necessity in a working kitchen. I bought these particular wooden utensils years ago and have used them daily ever since. I absolutely love them and do not recommend using plastic utensils in your home. Personally, I use only wood, stainless steel, and silicone.

I cannot say enough about cast iron, I could write an entire post on one piece of cast iron and it’s amazing versatility. Cast iron is probably the most used item in my kitchen, multiple times a day even. The best piece to give someone starting out is a 10-12″ skillet in my opinion. They will be able to not only cook on the stove top, but also bake in the oven with it. It is big enough to cook a spatchcock chicken and even dinner rolls and cinnamon buns.

I use large bowls every day for bread making and food preservation. Having mixing bowls with lids make them that much better in my opinion. I love using my mixing bowls that have lids for dough mixing because I don’t have to use plastic wrap to cover it while it rises. I am very conscious about my trash and waste footprint, so this is an absolute must have for us here.

Elderberries

Elderberries are another great idea for those herbalists in your life. Dried elderberries are a must have in our home, especially in the cold and flu season. For more information on why elderberries are essential, check out my blog posts on herbs to have in your home and also how to make elderberry syrup.

Stocking stuffers

Stocking stuffers are going to be smaller than regular gifts. Just because they are smaller does not mean that they need to be cheap and something that will break easy.

A very fun always needed stocking stuffer are seeds. This can go along with the above mentioned indoor growing system as well. Good for any potential or current gardener. If they are like me, they can never have enough seeds! I will be showing my seed collection in the near future, so trust me, seeds are always appreciated for that gardener in your life.

Another item to go with one of my gift ideas are chalk labels. These can work on many different items such as homemade cleaning bottles, DIY detergents, and more! I have these on my herb jars and cleaning bottles.

Have you ever tried to pour out of a mason jar? It doesn’t always work very well does it. These jar pouring spouts for wide mouth mason jars are great for just that reason! With this idea, I would also suggest reusable mason jar lids. For the same reason as above with having less waste, mason lids are the same idea. These reusable and colorful lids are used constantly in my home. When I make mayonnaise or ranch dip, these are simple and easy to use.

I hated having my sponges, scrubbing brushes and such just lying in the sink or even on my counter. I could just picture the bacteria multiplying from never being able to dry out properly. Then I bought this kitchen sink organizer and I’ve been super happy with it ever since.

Bonus ideas!

There is a new and exciting trend I’ve noticed these last couple of years. Gifts for any occassion are becoming more of the experiences being given.

For children, an annual pass to museums, parks and more fun places have become a thing! I find this to be absolutely wonderful. Children are then able to have experiences, make memories, and learn at the same time!

Some examples of experience gift giving are:

  • History Museums
  • Science Museums
  • Art Museums
  • Zoo
  • National Parks
  • Adventure Theme Parks
  • Camping Reservations
  • Nature Preserve Passes

Let me know what you think!
