Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5 to 6 pats of butter
  • 1/4 cup Additional brown sugar for topping optional

Equipment

  • 1 8x11 pan

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8x11 baking dish.
  2. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Pour mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  4. Top with butter pats and additional brown sugar if desired.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until cooked through.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Applesauce can be replaced with another fruit sauce, such as peach
  • Jam that did not set properly works well and helps reduce food waste
  • One finely chopped apple can be added before baking for extra texture
  • Water glassed eggs can be used in place of fresh eggs
  • Serve warm with maple syrup or with milk poured over the top
